What is a VPN?

A VPN — a virtual private network — sets up an encrypted tunnel between your device and a remote server. Once that tunnel is up, all of your traffic goes through it before reaching the internet: the sites you visit see our French server's IP address rather than yours, and your internet provider only sees an encrypted connection to AdKyNet.

It is the same mechanism companies use to connect a remote employee to their internal network, applied to personal use: you decide which exit point your connection leaves from, and whatever travels between the two stays unreadable to anyone sitting on the path.

What our VPN plans include

WireGuard protocol

Our VPN runs exclusively on WireGuard, the tunnelling protocol merged into the Linux kernel in version 5.6. It relies on modern, fixed cryptographic primitives — ChaCha20 for encryption, Poly1305 for authentication, Curve25519 for key exchange — without the algorithm negotiation that weighs older protocols down.

1 Gbit/s on every plan

Bandwidth does not depend on the plan you pick: VPN 1 at €3 gets the same 1 Gbit/s link as VPN 3. Only the number of users separates the plans, so the price follows the number of devices you need to cover rather than the throughput.

IPv4 and IPv6

Every configuration ships dual-stack. You keep access to services reachable over IPv6 only, even when your internet provider or the network you are connected to does not hand you an IPv6 address.

French exit point

The server sits in France, on infrastructure AdKyNet owns. Your traffic exits with a French IP address, which remains the condition of access for a share of streaming, banking and public-administration services restricted to the country.

From 1 to 5 users

Each user gets their own configuration, independent from the others. VPN 3 therefore covers five devices — a desktop, a laptop, a phone, a tablet — or five people in the same household, without anyone sharing a profile.

Immediate configuration

The configuration file is available in your client area as soon as the order is confirmed. You import it into the official WireGuard client — the one published by the project, not an in-house app — and the connection is live.

Why WireGuard rather than OpenVPN?

WireGuard fits in a few thousand lines of code, where OpenVPN and IPsec implementations run into the hundreds of thousands. That compactness has two direct consequences: the attack surface to audit shrinks accordingly, and the protocol runs inside the kernel, without the round trips between user space and kernel space that capped throughput on earlier generations.

In practice, the connection comes back almost instantly when you switch from Wi-Fi to 5G or your device wakes from sleep, because WireGuard holds no session to renegotiate: it identifies each peer by its public key and resumes the tunnel as soon as a valid packet arrives. That is what makes the VPN usable permanently on a phone rather than only for a one-off task.

What a VPN is for, day to day

Shared Wi-Fi networks

Hotel, station, coworking space, airport: on a network you do not administer, the tunnel guarantees that whatever leaves your machine is already encrypted before it reaches the access point. That also covers the older protocols in your apps, which encrypt nothing on their own.

Hiding your IP address

Your personal IP address identifies your line and roughly locates your home. Behind the VPN, the services you contact only see our server's address, shared between the users of the same plan.

Online gaming

In games where players connect directly to each other, or through third-party voice software, your IP address can be picked up by another participant. The VPN takes that out of the equation by putting ours in the way.

Access from abroad

While travelling outside France, a French exit IP spares you geographic blocks and the extra verification steps banking or administrative services trigger when they detect an unusual connection.

VPN, IP tunnel or VPS: which one?

All three products encrypt or relay traffic, but in opposite directions. The VPN protects your devices: your outgoing connection passes through us. The IP tunnel does the reverse and protects a service you publish: your visitors' incoming traffic lands on an AdKyNet IP address before being relayed to your machine, wherever it is hosted.

If you need to host the service yourself rather than shield it, our VPS servers are the place to look: you install whatever you want on them, including your own WireGuard server. For a website with no system administration to take on, shared web hosting stays the shortest route.

Our VPN servers are hosted in France, on infrastructure AdKyNet owns. Your traffic therefore exits with a French IP address, which is what services restricted to France look for.

How much bandwidth does the VPN provide?

All three plans come with 1 Gbit/s of bandwidth. Because WireGuard runs inside the Linux kernel and is very light on resources, real-world throughput depends mostly on your own connection rather than on the encryption.

Does the VPN support IPv6?

Yes. All three plans are dual-stack IPv4 and IPv6, including when your own internet provider does not give you native IPv6.
